A long, long time ago when the earth was still young, Prometheus, a clever titan, created all living creatures from a mixture of Earth and water, all from his pure imagination. He fashioned fish for the sea, made birds for the air, and animals to walk the Earth. However, from his knowledge of immortal gods, he fashioned man. Mortals.
Prometheus adored the mortals more than he adored his brother, Epimetheus. Prometheus despised Epimetheus, his poor brother who adored him. Prometheus always looked down on his little brother and always despised him. His parents always focused on his brother instead of him, but in reality, it was him who received all the praise and Epimetheus always received so little praise but he was selfish and wanted all the praise for himself.
Prometheus was enraged but let his brother fulfill his parents request to give the beings qualities. He knew that Epimetheus had one great flaw, which was when giving qualities, they can be tampered with for three seconds after they’re put until they are permanent. Epimetheus started with the birds and ended with the mortals. While Epimetheus was giving qualities to mortals, Prometheus quickly changed the qualities to greed and selfishness when his brother’s back was turned.
The world was turning into a wreck with the selfish mortals, but soon enough Zeus, Prometheus’ cousin, realized what happened but he knew better than to help him. Hephaestus and Athena, however, decided to help Prometheus even though they feared Zeus. They knew they had to do something before the mortals destroyed this world. Prometheus refused their help and accused his brother of what he did. Epimetheus didn’t know what to do since he was certain those weren’t the qualities he gave mortals.
By the passing day and night, more and more mortals were realizing the gods' presence and they hated it. They believed that since they were immortal, they needed to plan a sacrifice to get rid of them. Poor Epimetheus, who was stuck in the middle of the chaos, was chosen to be the sacrifice since he looked too weak for a god. Too sad to refuse a sacrifice. They grabbed Epimetheus and carried him up to the highest mountains so all the gods could see his sacrifice.
On the very top of the mountain, was a pit of fire. Epimetheus’ fatal flaw. Epimetheus was terrified but he thought it was only fair he died because of what he caused. Hephaestus and Athena tried to stop him, pleading with him to fight back yet he did nothing but surrender. On another hill, parallel to the mountain Epimetheus was being sacrificed on, was Prometheus. Prometheus then slowly realized what was happening and finally realized what a terrible mistake he did.
