- Of course! You are welcome to stay with us!
- We need shelter for the night.
- Baucis and Philemon were a kindly old couple. One day, two visitors arrived at their home.
- Glisser: 2
- Thank you for your hospitality, Baucis and Philemon. We must tell you that we are Jupiter and Mercury. This is why your glasses are refilling.
- Baucis and Philemon made a meal for them, sharing what little they had. Towards the end of the meal, everyone's glasses refilled, almost magically...
- Glisser: 3
- Please, take my only goose....
- No! You two have been so good to us. Come with us so that you can be spared for your kindness.
- Baucis and Philemon were shocked. Philemon felt bad about what little he had to offer and grabbed his only goose.
- Glisser: 4
- Everything below us has sunk into the ground but your home. We have made it into a temple. Now, in return for your hospitality, what do you wish from us?
- Jupiter and Mercury took them to a hillside. Baucis and Philemon watched as all of the houses in the countryside sank into the ground but theirs.
- Glisser: 5
- Of course
- We would like to be your servants and keep your temple.
- We also would like to be taken from life at the same time. I do not want to live without my husband.
- Baucis and Philemon were then gave their wishes, both of which Jupiter and Mercury were happy with and granted.
- Glisser: 6
- When Baucis and Philemon's time came, they were turned into trees at the same time. If you return to that place, you will see two trees with their branches intertwined....
