- I am Imhotep, the first civil engineer known by name. I built the step pyramid at Saqqarah, Egypt.
- Civil engineering is the oldest engineering practice after military engineering. We used empirical methods such as, arithmetics, geometry and physical science, to make the wonders of the world.
- In construction, medieval engineers carried techniques unknown to romans. The sketchbook of 13th century French engineer, Villard de Honnecout, revealed an unknown knowledge of mathematics, natural science and draftsmanship.
