- Life as a farmer isnt too good right now. Im not making any profit and I need to pay for expensive machinery!
- Oh no the stock market has crashed! Im going to lose all of my investments and my farm!
- THe Dust Bowl has hit my farm! All of my fields were swept away. Im going to lose the farm.
- Before the Great Depression started, the farmers were still struggling. The price of crops dropped dramatically and farmers were not making any profit. This lead to many farmers going into debt because of they had to spend lots of money on heavy machinery and their basic bills to keep their farms.
- I cant beleive I have to leave my farm. Hopefully we can get back on our feet in the city.
- When the stock market crashed the farmers were in a very bad situation. Most farmers investments and money were lost when the stock market crashed leaving them bankrupt.
- The dust bowl was really the last straw for the farmers in the 1930's. When the dust bowl hit farms they destoryed all the land. All the crops the farmers used to make money were gone leaving nothing but dust in the fields. When this happened most farmers left their farms and sought for a new home.
- With everything going on, most farmers across America made the decision to leave their homes. They were left with no choice but to travel to cities and set up shelter in shanky towns. The towns were known as Hooverville was named after President Hoover and were towns for the homeless.
- We are homeless! We are going to be living in a Hooverville.
