- He lived on a reserve in Manitoba called Red Sucker Lake. Elijah loved spending time on the land. He had learned all about hunting and fishing from his grandfather
- When I was 8 years old, I lived with my grandfather in the forest.
- Elijah : I had learned all about hunting and fishing from grandfather
- Grandfather : I want you to always be a good, kind, honest person!
- One day, a small plane landed on the ground. A white women stepped out. She was sent by the government. Her job was to take Elijah from his grandparents and bring him to residential school. Elijah didn’t want to get on the plane, but he had no choice.
- Don't be afraid everything will be fine
- Please, I do not want to fly away
