  • what?!? He has to be a good ruler not a holy man!!!
  • I will hide him from all suffering so he will not be a holy man.
  • pleas help me!!! help my son is ill!!!
  • um are they OK?!?!
  • Thousands of years ago in 500 BCE, a prince named Siddhartha was born into a wealthy Hindu family. At some point, his mother visited a prophet who predicted Siddhartha would grow up to be a holy man.
  • I´m soooooo hungry!!!
  • what am I doing with my life?!?
  • After the prophet made this prediction Siddartha's father wanted to keep him from becoming a holy man because he wanted him to be a ruler. Therefore, his father shielded him from all suffering so that he would be a ruler instead of a holy man. He also made all of his guards clear sick and poor people from the streets so that Sidartha wouldn´t see them.
  • look its the Buddha!!!
  • When Siddartha was 29 he decided to sneak out of the castle with no guards. He saw many things such as a man that was toothless, a diseased man, a dead man, and a holy man that had nothing but he was still satisfied. He wanted the happiness that the holy man had so he decided to become a aesthetic.
  • Inorder to find the happiness he wanted he became an ascetic and lived in the wilderness for 5 years with little food or water and gave up everything you need to survive. Then he realized that starving himself in the wilderness was not going to bring him happiness it was just making him weak.
  • After that Siddhartha reached enlightenment and became the Buddha by meditating and by following the 8 fold path and the 4 noble truths. When he reached enlightenment he was known as the Buddha which means enlightened one.
  • after buddha reached enlightenment he continued to teach people his beliefs by following the 4 noble truths and the 8 fold path. He also made temples where people could study his teachings and dedicate their life to Buddhism.
