- The theme of the story is never underestimate someone because it may surprise you how good they are at something. In the beginning of the story sq
- Never underestimate others because you never know what they can and cannot do. Squeaky thinks she is the fastest and will leave anyone in the dust. However when she goes against. But when the day of the race comes, she notices how fast Gretchen and Raymond are. This shows that you shouldn’t be too cocky. This theme also connects to how Squeaky changes because before the race against Gretchen she thought she would win easily. Squeaky’s perspective changes when the day of the race comes and the distance between her and Gretchen were pretty close. By the end of the story, she sees Raymond able to run pretty fast. She also sees Gretchen as a threat during the race. In real life people underestimate people and take a consequence like losing something or not to getting a chance to do something. Overall, the story shows not to be cocky but to be confident.
