- I am General Stonewall Jackson. This was the Battle of Bull Run. It took place on July 21,1861. The Union tried to take us down,but I rallied the Virginia troops and led them to victory. The Union ended up running away .The confederates won the battle
- The Battle of Antietam took place on September 17,1862. General Lee had left battle plans and a Union officer stumbled upon them. General McClellan was overjoyed,but slow to act. After a few days he finally attacked Lee's main forces The battle that took place remains the bloodiest day in American Military history. The night Lee ordered his troops back. Neither side won, but since Lee had withdrawn the North was able to claim victory.
- On June 30,1863 the Union met the Confederates at the town of Gettysburg,Pennsylvania The battle lasted three days and was one of the most significant events of the civil war.It was long and bloody. The southern army fought hard,but the Union army was well positioned. Some of the Unions success lay in its use of the Spencer repeating rifle. It allowed soldiers to fire very quickly. The south had lacked good technology.
- Despite the loss at Gettysburg Lee attacked once more on July 3,1863. He ordered to lead a daring charge against the center of the Union lines. The battle was known as Pickett's charge. When they started to charge the Union opened fire on them. Row after row soldiers went down. Pickett's charge failed. The Union took the victory. After the battle Lee had admitted it was his fault.
- In May 1863,Lee,aided by Stonewall Jackson again outmaneuvered Union forces. This was called the Battle Of Chancellorsville. Lee and Jackson defeated the troops in three days. However,Victory comes at a high price. During the battle a nervous confederate fired at what they thought was an approaching Union soldier. It turned out to be General Stonewall Jackson. The confederacy had lost one of its best generals.
- In December 1862,Burnside led Union forces once again towards Richmond. They soon confronted the Confederates in the Battle Of Fredericksburg. The outnumbered Confederates mowed down wave after wave of charging Union troops. It was one of the Union' worst defeats. Soon after Burnside was relieved of his command.
