- Before conditioning occurs; Every time the doorbell rings the dog barks to alert it’s owner that there is someone at the house.

- During experiment; Punishment to the dog is done by putting the dog in a crate and the scolding him. This is so that he knows that barking at the doorbell is wrong and shouldn’t be done. The owner will do this every time the doorbell rings and the dog starts barking.
