  • 4b is...
  • I noticed that when I started to implement this step as a teacher, my students have not only been more confident and happier in class, but also seem to feel more comfortable and cared for by their classmates!
  • What does this mean?
  • createing a community within the classroom!
  • Thank you Ms. Amira! I really needed to hear those words. I know I can always come to you if I ever need anything.
  • What does it look like?
  • Tiana it's okay to cry and be sad. You don't have to hide it. You are cared for and loved and are such an amazing child. How about we wipe your tears and then go play a game with your classmates? Will that make you feel better?
  • I love to see my students learn to validate their feelings. It is such an important skill to learn especially at a young age! My students enjoy coming to class each day because of the supportive and empathetic learning environment I've created!
  • Create supportive and empathetic learning environments that are safe spaces conducive to learning
  • Why/how this standard is significant in our practice?
  • It means making sure each and every one of your students feels cared for, valued, and safe in your classroom! It means that they know in this classroom, they can always express themselves without fear of being judged, bullied and misunderstood!
  • How would I strive towards this specific standard?
  • I want you all to know that in this classroom, you can always come to me or to your classmates for support and encouragement! We are all in this together! I want to see you all be the best versions of yourselves.
  • It looks like prioritizing your students' well being and being there for them whenever and where ever. Meet with students privately to discuss how they're feeling and to work towards making sure they feel the best they could possibly feel.
  • This standard is important because it builds students confidence, brings out their individuality and encourages it, and teaches them how to express themselves without fear of being judged or misperceived!
  • Go above and beyond to prioritize your students and their feelings! Encourage them to support eachother as well as express themselves by showing your care for all of them as individuals part of this little community you created within the classroom!
