  • Today you will get a presentation, were you will get to see what people look like, and their perspective speech to tell you about Sparta you will also get a summery, this summary will include extra information for you to know about. Well what are you waiting for let's get started!
  • Welcome!
  • Sparta's Government
  • Hi were are the Kings that rule Sparta, you must think we have all the power, but that is not true, ephors watch us all the time, we can still make decisions like were to invade countries but ephors always make sure we are not corrupted.
  • Hi I'm one of the five ephors they pick each year, my job is to watch the kings everyday, I see if they are corrupted or not, but really the best part of being an ephor is that I can break the laws whenever I want.
  • Hi I'm one of the 30 Council of Elders, although I wish I could tell you I'm young, all of us are 60 or more in the Council of Elders. We make up laws to send to the assembly
  • Hi, I'm part the assembly, I had to wait until I was thirty to enter, I make laws official by voting on it
  • Sparta's Values
  • Hello today is the day my son is taken away to start military school, although I'm gonna miss him, I want him to be a true citizen of Sparta, that's right you can't be a true citizen if you don't attend the military, Sparta values military a lot.
  • Come on you dummy keep running. Oh sorry, in here we push boys to their limit, we train them to be unstoppable, strong kids means strong military, and we value military a lot!
  • We hope you'll enjoy Sparta's(my) presentation
  • Sparta's Economy
  • Sparta's government is very special, or very picky. What I mean is that it is not easy to be part of it, although Spartans care more about the military, they want good experienced men. Take the Council of Elders for example, for one you can't get in if you're not 60 or more years old, and instead of being 500 places like Athens there's only 30 men in the council, so it's very competitive. Not only that but Sparta is an Oligarchy meaning it is ruled by two kings not one, these are very experience men, but imagen the 5 ephors who watch over them, now those are REALLY experience men.
  • Sparta's Women
  • Hi, I'm one of Sparta's woman, you probably think that we have a lot of disadvantages like Athenian woman, but that's actually not true. In Sparta women can go to school, own land, and marry a man we actually want to marry. We also have our own sports, and even though we can't be in the military, we still train ourselves to be fit, after all Sparta does want strong woman, strong woman mean strong babies.
  • Sparta values good military, and has a education for building strong military. Sparta will judge you since you are born, they want strong people. Sparta's boys are taken away at the age of seven to complete this education, were they teach them to be loyal, brave, and strong. Sparta is best known for their military. Unlike Athens Sparta does not care a lot about the government, they let the experienced man manage that stuff.
  • Sparta's Slaves
  • Sparta's economy is very different from Athens, instead of trading their goods, they conquer land. Sparta also does a lot of farming, well helots are the actual ones doing the farming, helots are Sparta's slaves, they are the prisoners from the lands conquered. Sparta's economy is like a key chain, conquering allows land for Sparta's population to grow and land for farming. Farming gives them food, and if there is a problem in their soil they can just conquer land with good fertile soil.
  • Hi, I'm part of Sparta's military, we conquer other states(or city states), this helps expand Sparta's population.
  • Hi I'm one of Sparta's conquered people, known as helots, although I'm still a slave, it's not that bad, I wasn't forced to leave my home or work on a mine. I usually work in the farms, I have to do extra work since they take half of what we produce for their families. This is usually how they get food.
  • Sparta's women aren't very different from man, they're actually treated better, they can even go to their own school. Unlike Athens the don't need a male companion to leave the house, and they don't have to marry super old man, woman can even divorce their husband when they're at war. They can own property and they have citizen rights, they can also talk to their husband's friends.
  • Sparta's slaves aren't treated as bad as Athens slaves. they can even buy their own freedom. When conquered they aren't forced to leave their homes, and they usually only need to do farming jobs. Although Spartans take away half their profit, it still better than mining jobs.
  • Hi! I'm a Spartan slave, or a helot, I usually only do the farming which is grabbing, planting, etc. Half of everything I produce is taken for Spartan families, this may seem unfair but helots can actually buy their freedom, and get married, they actually see it as a benefit since they get more helots to do their work
