- Fredrick and the other slaves were out picking cotton in the field for his new master covey who was very violent and often whipped Fredrick
- your gonna regret ever doing that
- one faithful day he met a fellow slave by the name of Sandy Jenkins when he told sandy his story he invited Frederick to his cabin for advice he told Fredrick that before he goes to covey he will need to get a root from the woods to put in his pocket and no white man will hit him again
- one day when Fredrick was attending to the horse's covey walks in with a rope and tries to tie my feet but instead of being obedient I fought back
- after Douglas refused to be tied up a scuffle broke out for the next 2 hours
- after the two long excruciating hours of constant fighting, they are both drained from hours of fighting then finally he lets me go and from that day forward I never got hit again
