- "What was he up to" (Pg. 163)It makes me wonder what they are really up to. It tells me that the 'special team' is very mysterious.

- "What was he talking about" (Pg. 231)It makes me think about how he will get out of Germany. It tells me that his dad is worried about them.

- "Had I put everything back the way I found it?" (Pg. 15)This question is important because it makes us wonder what is going to happen ; same with Michael.

- "Good God, are we happy to see you...Good god why didn't you..." (Pgs. 212-213)I think the author wants us to know that his dad is distressed.
- "When you fell down, it was over" (Pg. 294)I think the author wants us to know that the Nazi don't stop until they can't get up.
- "Fritz had saved me from falling. 'That's two!' Fritz said." (Pg. 283)The author wants to show that Fritz still has good in him and cares about Michael.
