- William's family sells their animals before the price for them is too low, so that they can buy more food.
- No phala (food they eat at breakfast) today son. We need to cut back.
- William's family has to start cutting down on how much they eat, and they stop eating breakfast.
- Aww. Okay.
- People become very desperate and start selling household items.
- For her family to survive, William's mother makes flour cakes to sell.
