  • Pearl Harbor Bombing: Dec. 7th, 1941 caused the United States to join the war.

  •  Women got more jobs which were usually done by men because lots of men were soldiers in the war.

  • RESOURCES ARE CONSERVED AND SOME ARE DONATED TO THE ARMY
  • POWs, or prisoners of war, were kept in POW camps in places in the United states like Texas. These prisoners were mostly Germans, some Italian, and some Japanese. The prisoners were treated well, and earned a small payment for working in farms. Their conditions changed later in the war, when concentration camps in Europe were liberated. The prisoners also relieved the labor shortage in Texas that came with the war, and were released as soon as the war ended.

  • Allied Powers Victory
  • The allied powers: United States, Great Britain, Soviet Union, and France, won World War II on May 8th, 1945 after the Germans surrendered. Afterward, the United States bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan, causing the Japanese to surrender.
  • After the war, Texas continued to be more industrialized, there was more interest in equal rights for all races and women because of their contributions to the war, and there were more military bases in Texas.
