- Hello my name is Thalia and I will be talking about what I learned this semester.
- At the beginning of the course I had no idea what I was getting myself into nor what the class what truly about
- While I may not be an expert in anthropology, I believe that I will be leaving the class with a lot of knowledge on the subject
- I also learned that thanks to anthropology we are able to know more about the past through things such as paleontology and primatology
- I learned that anthropology has different fields which include: Biological/Physical, Archeology, Linguistics, and Cultural anthropology
- Anthropology also helps us solve crimes by being able to gather information from bones which tell us who the person is and the cause of death
- I learned that anthropology also helps us gather information on how ancient civilizations lived and how they sustained themselves
- I learned about how we were able to evolve and the differences we have with species that we share ancestors with
- I learned terms such as Ethnocentrism which is the way you may judge others based on the perspective of your culture/group
- I also learn that anthropologists do not focus on race as it makes no difference biologically
- While I wasn't able to fully add everything I learned throughout this course, I am extremely grateful for Mr Cortes for teaching this class and giving me a look into what anthropology really is!
