  • Tadaa
  • Here we have a cell. Now I'm gonna Magically turn this cell into two cells.
  • How did he do that?
  • Well that all happened because of a process called mitosis. Mitosis is when a cell basically makes a copy of itself, this process has 4 steps and 1 Pre-step called Interphase. The 4 steps after are prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase
  • The phase of the cell cycle in which a normal cell spends the majority of its life is known as interphase. The cell's 'daily living' or metabolic phase, during which it acquires nutrients and metabolises them, grows, and repeats its DNA in preparation for mitosis, is known as interphase.
  • During Interphase the cell prepares itself for mitosis by replicating the DNA. It is the metabolic phase of the cell. It obtains nutrients, metabolize them and grow in size.
  • Mitosis is the division of duplicated genetic material carried in a parent cell's nucleus into two identical daughter cells. The prophase is the first stage of mitosis. The nucleus includes a mixture of DNA and proteins during prophase.
  • *Visible DNA and chromosomes*
  • This is prophase, the first stage of cell division, in this stage the nuclear envelope disappears and the chromosomes start to become visible as paired chromatids.
  • Metaphase is the stage of the process of cell division (mitosis or meiosis). chromosomes are usually distributed in the cell nucleus. During metaphase, the cell nucleus collapses and the cell's chromosomes condense and move together,
  • This is metaphase, where the chromosomes line up in the middle attached with spindle fibers.
  • Anaphase is the fourth phase of mitosis, the process by which a parent cell's replicated genetic material is separated into two identical daughter cells from the nucleus.
  • In anaphase the chromatids in the cell split and move to opposite sides of the cell
  • The process of mitosis, which splits the duplicated genetic material carried in the nucleus of a parent cell into two identical daughter cells, is called telophase. Once the replicated, paired chromosomes have been split and dragged to opposite sides, telophase begins.
  • This is telophase, the last step where there is a nucleus formed in both cells
