  • The book is titled The Kite Runner, because kite runners are usually lower class people paid to run after the kites that rich people fly and bring it back to them.
  • With this information, we can infer that the book will be from the perspective of a lower class citizen being mistreated by those of higher classes
  • Themes that could be connected to kites include: Childhood, Competition, Memory, and Freedom. This is because kites are used as a symbol of childhood and nostalgia.

  • The narrator of The Kite Runner lives in San Francisco in 2001, but he previously lived in a different place not named yet in 1975. He remembers crouching behind walls and peering down alleyways.
  • The narrators change in setting tells us that he had a major life change and left a part of himself behind.
  • These details leave the reader to wonder what was he looking at? Was the wall protecting him from anything? And why did he move to California?
