Texte du Storyboard

  • Earthquake and Faults
  • Everywhere you look in cities and towns, they are on the planet Earth. Earth has places called tectonic plates. Sometimes, these plates clash with each other and form faults. Faults are the main catalyst for earthquakes, and earthquakes can be devastating.
  • Above this text box is a map of tectonic plates, split with red lines. Those plates cause faults. Faults are a break in the Earth's lithosphere, and there are many types caused in different ways.
  • The types of faults are normal, strike-slip and reverse. They all cause faults, as they are faults but they are formed in different ways.
  • The thing about faults is that faults don't just cause an earthquake when they feel like it. They cause an earthquake when seismic waves get involved.
  • Seismic waves form when rocks fall through a fault and create energy. Enough of said energy can cause an earthquake, but there are ways to detect earthquakes and keep people safe, so don't worry! Also, thanks for reading, reader!
