- The RMS Lusitania was on its way to Ireland when a German U-Boat spotted them. During this time, Unrestricted Submarine Warfare was initiated, which meant that German submarines would attack any enemy ship, even if it wasn't a military ship/
- I see a British passenger ship! Should we attack, sir?
- Affirmative!

- BOOM!!!
- When the president of the U.S at the time, Woodrow Wilson, and leader of Germany, Wilhelm II met, Wilson said that Unrestricted Submarine Warfare had to stop!
- You're sure that you'll stop attacking passenger ships?
- Of course....
- But Germans sent a telegram to Mexico promising land if they attacked the U.S. It was intercepted by the British, and is known as the Zimmerman Telegram.
- Sir, we've intercepted an attack proposal between Germany and Mexico!
- WHAT?!?!
- It was sent to President Wilson and he wasn't happy...
- We intend to begin on the first of February unrestricted submarine warfare. We shall endeavor in spite of this to keep the United States of America neutral. In the event of this not succeeding , we make Mexico a proposal of alliance on the following basis:
