  • Hi, I am a massive star and in this comic, I will show you how massive stars are formed!
  • All stars massive and small are formed form stelluar nebulas. Stelluar nebulas simply are ginat clouds of dust and gas. that are spread out. Over time, gravity pulls them togther forming clusters. Over time it collapses under it's own gravity and causes the material in the middle to heat up and forming a protostar.
  • Protostars are stars that are beginning to form and are srill gathering mass form the gas clouds. protostars could be simply considered as young stars. They grow hotter from the collapse of gas and needs to reach more than 10 million Kelvin.
  • I am a red supergiant. When I have used up all the hydrogen to turn into helium, I expand to form the supergiant size and my core begins to cool down which is why I'm red. Now I fuse the helium into carbon. In summary, when massive stars have finished their nucleur fusion, they become red like me.
  • When it is hot enough it will start a energy making method called nucleur fusion which basically fuses hyrdogen atoms into helium atoms to produce energy. While small stars need to take billions of years to finish nucleur fusion, massive stars only need millions. This stage is also when the star is a massive star
  • When the pressure is low enough in a massive star, gravity will take over and the star will collapse under its own weight. It creates a space-wide explosion called a Supernova
  • Consider supernovas as space nukes. They are simply lumionus explosions of a star.
  • After surviving the supernova, massive stars can either become a black hole or a neutron star. If their solar masses is between 1-3 then they are most likely to become neutron stars. If they are above 3 solar masses then they may collapse and forming a black hole.
  • Black holes simply suck everything around them to make themselves bigger while neutron stars are collapsed sun cores and very small.
  • Fun Fact: The Biggest neutron star know is only 2.35 solar masses or on 2.35 times more heavier than the sun!
