  • Unit 6: Executive Branch Vocabulary
  • Okay, it's time to open up to Google Classroom. We will be completing guided notes together.
  • Please close out the video games. Lets try to stay on task.
  • I have student of mine with high functioning Autism. His 504 accomodations require subtle cues to remain on task, but I can't seem to direct his focus from video games to taking notes. He is struggling in Language Arts as well as Social studies, but is exceeding in Math and Computers. He just doesn't like to write.
  • Well, I know he excels in computers and he is interested in technology. Perhaps, I'll try having him create a Quizlet set for our vocabulary to take notes, instead of filling it into a document. That way. he can use it to play the Match games to study.
  • Well, "building on a student's interest and direction is fundamental to the development of self-determination."
  • I've uploaded the Power Point for our Vocabulary to your Google Classroom. I'd like you to use the notes to complete the Quizlet, and then you may play the matching game to review until we are finished.
  • I think as educators it's important to think about: What can we do to promote self-determination in students with disabilities?
  • The strategy you suggested worked well!
  • Exactly. What self-determination skills should we be teaching our students with disabilities?
