  • Kaleigh's First Day of SchoolToday is the first day of school and Kaleigh is so excited to start Pre-School with her teacher Mrs. Miller.
  • Can't Wait to Play with All The Toys!

  • Hello Kaleigh, Ready to have fun today with your classmates
  • After Kaleigh's mom dropped her off for the school day, she found her seat in class. Kaleigh met Melissa and Jeff. All three of the students had a common interest of playing school.
  • I'm Melissa
  • Hi Im Kaleigh
  • Melissa, Jeff and Kaleigh all get on the bus to go home. All three of the students get on the bus after their long first day.
  • Playground Later?
  • In this slide of the story, Mom is dropping her daughter off at preschool for the first time. The daughter says to the mom that she wants to play with all the toys. The daughter is gathering language skills by telling her mom what she want's. Language skills are devloped through interaction with others.
  • Mom and Kaleigh Sat down to talk about everything that happened during the day. Kaleigh described to her mom that they had pretend play time, lunch, playground time, reading time, and more. Kaleigh was so excited to attend school the next day with her friends.
  • School was good! Can we go to the playground?
  • Kaleigh is developing language with her peers by talking to them. The more the children interact the more the other person learns about language and has the potential to develop it.
  • Jeff, Melissa, and Kaleigh all went to the playground with their parent's after school. They all took turns and used the swings and slide.
  • The students are discussing what they want to do for plans later if their parents will take them to the play ground.
  • Kaleigh and Jeff spend time playing with a ball in the yard before it is time to go home.
  • Pretend play that Kaleigh described is essential for language development. Throughout pretend play, Children develop language skills of their own. This helps the child establish how they need to do things and how to communicate their needs.
  • The children played with each other and communicated what they were going to do. The children also discussed how to take turns in using certain things on the play ground
  • Jeff and Kaleigh were kicking a ball back and forth. The two had to communicate what they are doing back and forth.
