- The widow of Paolo Saverini lived alone with her son in a poor little house on the outskirts of Bonifacio.

- This was late at night after a quarrel between Nicholas Ravolati and Antoine Saverini.

- The neighbours brought the mother the body of her deceased child.
- The mother trained the boy's dog, Semillante to attack a person on her command. She did this by building a scarecrow, attaching a sausage to the neck and starving the dog for two days. The dog was ravenous and when it was time to eat it ripped away at the neck.

- Antoine Saverini's mother fins Nicholas Ravolati and orders the dog to kill him. She knew that she would be able to sleep fine tonight.
