- METAPHOR
- In Act 2, Scene 2, Lines 30-31 Romeo compares how stunning and similar Juliet is to an angel.
- "O, speak again, bright angel, for thou artas glorious to this night...
- SOLILIQUY
- "I take thee at thy word. Call me but love, and I'll be new baptized;Henceforth I never will be Romeo."
- In Act 2, Scene 2, Lines 50-52 Romeo declares how much he will sacrifice for Juliet and how much he loves her.
- DRAMATIC IRONY
- Romeo is being banished out of Verona for killing Tybalt.
- "break, my hear, poor bankrupt, break at once! To prison, eyes, ne'er look on liberty."
- In Act 3, Scene 2, Lines 60, Juliet finds out about Romeo's banishment and is sad since she won't be able to see him anymore.
- Your wedding will be Thursday night and you will marry to Paris.
- VERBAL IRONY
- In Act 3, Scene 5, Lines 120-124 Juliet and her mother argue when Juliet is told that she will marry Paris.
- "I will not marry yet; and, when I do, I swear it shall be Romeo, whomyou know I hate, rather than Paris."
- IMAGERY
- Like a candle in the darkness, the imagery of light in dark comes up a lot inRomeo and Juliet. "O, she doth teach the torches to burn bright," Romeo says when hefirst sees Juliet. "It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night / As a rich jewel in anEthiop's ear"
- In Act 1, Scene 5, Lines 42-53 Romeo is mesmerized when he first sees Juliet. And think she is the most gorgeous girl in the world.
