- Hey, do you know about Newton's First Law of Motion?
- Yeah, its when something stays the same at all time unless something foreign get in the way and makes it act differently.
- Why am I sliding?
- What is going on!!?
- You may feel as though you are sliding to the left when the bus makes a righthand turn this is because while the bus is making its turning motion the passengers continue to go in a straight path until they hit the side of the bus forcing them to complete the turn
- OMG!!! I don't understand why am I jerking backwards?
- In terms of the 1st law, you have inertia which resists acceleration. The bus accelerates underneath you and so you are forced to hang on (briefly) to allow the bus' acceleration to overcome your inertia and get you moving too
