The giant panda species live in the bamboo forests. Half of these giant pandas have long teeth while the other half has short teeth. These bamboo forests consist of both soft and tough bamboo.
Differential Survival
Both variations of giant pandas produce more offspring because there is only a small percent that all offspring will survive.
Differential Reproduction
The bamboo forest where the panda's source of food is start producing more tough bamboo than soft making the soft bamboo very limited. the pandas with short teeth will need to adapt to eating tough bamboo in order to survive longer. The pandas with long teeth have an advantage because their teeth are built for tough bamboo.
Adaptation
Over time, more and more pandas with longer teeth will get produced, making their population larger, leaving pandas with short teeth dying off.
Pandas with longer teeth will overproduce more overtime while the pandas with short teeth will not be able to reproduce again.
Pandas with long teeth will become more dominant and the ones with short teeth will be very rare to see.
