- Last May Percy Jackson and twenty eight troubled kids from Yancy academy went on their 6th grade field trip to Manhattan's Metropolitan Museum of Art to see Roman and Greek artifacts with Mr.Brunner and Mrs.Dodds. This trip decided if Percy will be expelled from Yancy ,so he was determined to be good,however Nancy Bobofit was throwing her lunch at his best friend Grover, Percy was about to explode of anger. Thankfully Grover calmed him down before he did something foolish.

- Mr.Brunner led the tour. He explained to the class about a thirteen foot column with a big sphinx on it and how it was a grave marker. Percy was intrigued,but everybody around him was talking. Every time Percy told everybody to shut up,Mrs.Dodds would give Percy an evil eye.
- All the students can outside to eat lunch.Mr.Brunner held Percy back to talk to him.After their short conversation the students sat outside of the museum to eat their lunch.Percy started to notice a storm brewing,but nobody else seemed to aware.
- Nancy Bobofit and her ugly friends suddenly crowded around Percy and Grover, Nancy dumped her lunch all over Grovers lap.Percy started getting angry,he tried to remember what his school counselor said to him,but his mind went blank and by the time Percy opened his eyes he saw Nancy in the water fountain.
- Percy knew he was in trouble.Mrs.Dodds led him inside the museum to talk to him. Mrs.Dodds began to scream at Percy about stuff he didn't understand.Then she transformed into something that wasn't even human and Percy had a feeling this creature wanted to kill him.
- Mr.Brunner was in the doorway of the gallery holding a pen. Mr.Brunner threw the pen to Percy and when Percy caught the ballpoint pen it turned into a bronze sword.Percy swung his bronze sword hitting Mrs.Dodds shoulder. Unexpectedly, she turned into yellow powder,then vaporized leaving a stench of sulfur. Suddenly, Percy was alone holding a regular ball point pen in his hands.
