"He is almost as lost as you are."
In this scene, Addy, the main character, got to her new foster home after her mother couldn't take care of her anymore. She is outside near the barn where Gabe, is showing her the new foal they found in the snow. Addy does not like her foster home, and thinks she is going to leave soon. Addy's new 'friend' Sunny says that only kids who need to be somewhere for more than a year, Addy is now trying not to believe Sunny.

While the foal was playing in the field around the farm, Addy and Jude, another kid in foster care, were by a tree with a hole in the middle. Inside the hole it was covered in ribbon and gems. On the tree it said "Jude + Thomas". Jude explained that Thomas was his baby brother that had been taken away. This was a big part of the story because Jude doesn't like to talk at all.

At the end of the story, the vets that came to check on the foal said that he couldn't go back out into the wild, so he was sold to a nice young girl that would train him and make sure he got lots of love. Addy wasn't happy, but she got to see the foal everyday after school. The foal got two new horse friends, and was happy in his new pasture.
