- This chapter takes place in Little Rock Arkansas where Melba Patillo Beals is the protagonist of the story and she's one of the members from a group called the Little Rock 9 which attend the high school Central High.

- Melba is escorted from her home towards her school by the leader of the Screaming Eagle Division of the 101st, Sarge followed by other soldiers.

- They arrived out of the school got out of the jeep and Sarge made a formation with his soldiers to protect the Little Rock 9 on their way up the steps of the school from the angry crow.
