It also worsens pollution, as incineration and even recycling processes emit greenhouse gases.The problem is not plastic, but the way plastic is being used.

- Ms Teo pointed out that the contamination rate for recycled waste here is high, with close to 40 per cent of the recyclables collected from the blue bins not being recycled.#160;For plastics, plastic packaging that has not been washed and still has food remnants on it would be considered contaminated.
