- Congress voted 221 to 209 to spend fifteen million on interest for the national debt.
- Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer said this is the first small step to preventing reckless taxing and spending spree, and massive debt increase.
- However Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell says "The money spent on the debt might have been spent on education or healthcare."
- A health care shortage might be right around the corner, says McConnell.
