  • Huh? What? a talking rock? Who are you anyways?
  • Rocks occur many changes physically and chemically because they undergo Exogenic and Endogenous Processes. We are going to talk about the first process in Exogenic Process.
  • WEATHERING
  • It has three types: Chemical Weathering, Mechanical Weathering and Biological Weathering
  • Weathering is the breaking down or dissolving of rocks and minerals on Earth's Surface. It is the first process that rocks undergo in changing physical and chemical form.
  • Oh, that's why there are many small pieces of rocks in the ground
  • For instance, carbon dioxide from the air or soil sometimes combines with water in a process called carbonation.
  • Chemical Weathering is the change of the molecular structure of rocks and soil.
  • 1 1 1 1
  • The Factors are Water, Temperature, Ice and Wind. Example, when water enter a rock and freezes, it expands, thus, splitting the rock.
  • Mechanical Weathering is the process that breaks rock apart without changing their chemical composition
