- Hi. my name is Cindy Lee Von Dover. I am an award winning and history making marine biologist.
- I graduated with my B.S. in Environmental Science from Rutgers, my masters in ecology from UCLA, and I got my P h.D. from MIT.
- I piloted the DSV Alvin in 1990, becoming the first female pilot to command the vehicle.
- On those expeditions in the submersible ALVIN, I was able to discover new species of mussels. shrimp, tube worms, and bacteria.
- Currently I am a professor and have many administrative roles at Duke University, including the chair of their marine laboratory.
- I have accomplished a lot in my career, including earning research grants from NASA, NOAA. and the National Science Foundation.
