- Deep down in my heart there is love, and from it I spoke quietly, reasonably,against restrictions I saw no grounds for,and my elders and betters replied

- With pompous slogans bellowedwhile I was stating my case.and I grew weary of being shouted atsimply because I had disagreed.I ceased to try to argue and stillthey range at me for my crime of being young.

- Out into the street and broke their windowswith stones, smashed their motor carsand hurled bricks at them, laughingas the primeval beasts laughed.
- And they hated me, cursed me franticallyscreamed at me for abandoning reason.
