Attended the only one high school at my hometown, with over 1000 seniors , the pressure of passing the national college entrance exam that determine one's future is immense.
My parents were among the few people in their village to receive a higher education, and they all became educators. Growing in such a family, I developed a deep respect for the transformative power of education.
I was quite uncertain about my future in high school. We had very limited recourses from the outside. I didn't know what I was passionate about or what career path to pursue. Instead, I spent countless hours preparing for the college entrance exam: 10 hours a day studying for at least six days per week.
I wasn't sure about the direction of my higher education, but I knew that those who loved and cared for me had high expectations.
Because of my hard work, I became one of the best students in school and got a high score in the college entrance exam. I was admitted to the Beijing Language and Culture University, a prestigious university in the capital of China, majoring in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language.
