Ugh! This is an unjust Act!
The Quartering ActThe Quartering Act was declared in 1765, and required colonists to provide food and housing for British soldiers. However, the colonists believed they should not have to pay to house and keep troops in their colony, since the soldiers were useless.
"Argh! This is an Act of Tyranny! This is not fair! Repeal this Act!"
Townshend ActIn 1767, Parliament raised revenue by passing taxes on imports from Great Britain such as paper, lead, glass, paint and tea. In response, colonists boycotted these imported goods to avoid paying the extra tax.

The Declaration of IndependenceIn July of 1766 in Philadelphia, Thomas Jefferson wrote the first draft of the Declaration of Independence, using John Locke's ideas. Locke believed that all people (referring to white men) have natural rights of liberty, life and prosperity, and if the government is not protecting these rights, the government can be replaced. The Declaration contains evidence of the abuse and tyranny of the king and Parliament and concludes how American colonists are now free, independent states.
