When Epps body was found an extensive investigation was conducted by the LASD.But all leads went cold and it was like that for 16 years. In 2021 the case wasreopened by a homicide unsolved unit, using current and new there was evidence toresubmit. The evidence led to Charles wright who was a middle school teacher. He was arrested but he got out on bond, while out DNA evidence linked him to anotherincident , the kidnapping and sexual assault on an 18 year old girl. He was convicted of first degree murder and kidnapping among other charges.
