Following the 92 Resolutions, made by Parti Patriote., The imperial government released the Russell Resolutions. The Russell Resolutions both rejected the 92 Resolutions' demands and influenced the Canadian Rebellion.
The first rebellion occured in 1837 and Canadian militants rebelled against the British crown. This rebellion killed over 300 people. The revolt lead to the formation of the responsible government and gave Canadians their first nationalist heros.
That same year, members of the Parti Patriote then went on to create and organize Popular Assemblies to denounce the Russell Resolutions and to demonstrate their discontentment with the british authorities.

We the British Government have decided to ban any formation of popular assemblies.
We, the British Government are scared of revolt.
Despite the British Government forbidding popular assemblies, Parti Patriote still went on to make the The Assembly of the Six Counties, This assembly was an assembly of Patriote leaders and approximately 6,000 followers held in Saint-Charles.
