- In the beginning there was a Jewish family named the Landau's. the father of the family was named Aaron. the mother was named Rachel. the youngest girl in the family was named Ruthie. And the main character in story is Josef. this family is in grave danger and need to escape Germany, to escape Adolf Hitler

- The Nazis broke into Josef's house and broke everything and took valuables like necklaces, bracelets, and jewelry. after breaking everything in their house they took Josef's father to a concentration camps because he continued to work when he was told not too. They told him he could leave the camps but they could never come back to Germany or they would be sent back to the concentration camps.
- falling action
- Josef and his family were able to find a ship to leave Germany and go to Cuba. They were also able to take Josef's father that became a little crazy from the concentration camps. Josef and Ruthie also made two friends that were pranksters.
- resolution
- Josef's father became restless and his mom went to get something for Aaron to drink and to drop off Ruthie at the pool. Unfortunately the doctor made Josef's mother drink the melatonin and by the time she got back to the cabin they stayed in she passed out. After Josef's mother passed out he needed to get Ruthie and by the time he got back with Ruthie Josef's father was missing. when Josef saw a crowd near the deck he saw his father in the water trying to drown himself
- After Josef's father was sent to a hospital in Cuba Josef's family and everyone on the ship were not allowed to go into Cuba but were sent to other area. Josef's family was sent to France where Josef and Ruthie went back to school. a while later the Nazi's came after them to send them to the concentration camp
- After Running for a while Josef's Family found a house but nobody was there to help them. Josef's mother tried giving them jewels from Ruthies jacket sewn in. after taking the jewels the Nazis gave her a choice to save one of her kids but she couldn't choose so Josef chose for her and chose to save Ruthie. The Nazi's then took Josef and his mother to the concentration camps leaving Ruthie behind.
