What are some key things they say?
In the play Troy is talking to Rose and Bono,"What it ever get me? Ain't got a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of" (Wilson 14). Troy explains that he came from nothing and grew up with nothing. So his dream he had for baseball didn't get him anywhere.
Rose explains to Troy,"Times have changed since you was playing baseball,Troy. That was before the war. Times have changed a lot since then" (Wilson 14).
What effect do they have on others?
In the play Troy is talking to Rose, "I'm talking woman,let me talk. I'm trying to find a way to tell you ... I'm gonna be a daddy. I'm gonna be somebody's daddy (Wilson 63). Troy's actions affected his whole family and now he is having another baby with another woman.
