- 2: Genetic Variation
- 3: Overproduction of Offspring
- The mice population is made up of 5 different fur colors. They can be either white, black, tan, brown, or white. They live in a cave system under ground and the black ones blend in better than all the other colors.
- 4: Competition & Natural Selection
- There is genetic variation because they are made of of different colored furs. They can either be black, white, brown, or tan. They have different DNA because not all of the mice are exactly the same.
- 5: Adaptation
- They reproduce so much that there is a high number of mice in the population. They start to have a overpopulated number of mice in the population and there isn't enough space for them. So snakes start to move in to the caves.
- Evolution Has Occured
- The black mice start to survive more because they blend in better. Since the white and brown mice stick out better the snakes eat them instead of the black mice because they are seen better. Eventually there won't be any white or brown mice left.
- The black mice start to survive more because they blend in better. Since they survive at a higher rate they start to reproduce with other black mice and create black offspring. Over time the population starts to become more and more filled with black mice.
- Since the black mice were more better fit for the environment they whole population eventually became black mice. The brown and the white were not fit for the population they died off because they were seen easier. So the mice population evolved and the population became all black.
