In the begining of Act 4, Tituba and Sarah Good had already lost their minds now thinking that they can come in contact with the devil. They are now talking about going with the devil to Barbados and to take them away already.

In the scene, Hales had came back after quiting his position in the court. Danforth is questioning why he had came back and is upset about the whole idea of him suddenly leaving but yet coming back at the end to help others to confess to not be hanged

In the scene, Proctor was giving the chance to talk to his wife (Elizabeth), for her to try and convince him to confess about being a witch to not be hanged. They have a very long talk about forgiveness and at the end he decides to confess to be with his wife and his upcoming kid.
