Lets break into the DNC Watergate.
On June 17th 1972 5 men broke into the DNC to try to get President Nixon reelected .
Yeah! We have to hurry!
Ok let's plant these bugs for Nixon. Then get out of here.
The main goal for these men were to plant bugs in the cellphone lines. They did this so Nixon could hear the reelection.

Why is there tape in the door?
The reason why the burglary got caught was because they put masking tape on the door. The cops realized that and they got the same night as the break-in.
This will only be a 3rd degree burglary.
They undermined this and named it as a 3rd degree burglary. Trying to not freak the country out.

As the case was going along they realized that Nixon was listening to messages. This was the smoking gun.
Nixon, have you been recording messages from the DNC

I am about to get impeached. I will just resign.
It's ok I'll take over. But I will take this pardon.
Nixon resigned due to impeachment. President Ford cam into play and wanted to keep this a pardon.
