- Introduction:Two men live int he same house, a great big house full of treasures.
- Initial incident:The speaker is an ill man who suffers from syphilis, the speaker wishes to kill the old man because of his pale blue eye.
- Rising action:Each night the narrator sneaks into the old man's room only to find the Evil Eye closed.
- Rising action:On the eighth nigh of his ventures, the speaker drops his lantern.
- Climax:The old man's eye bursts open, he emits a groan of mortal terror. The speaker doesn't move a muscle for over an hour from fear of getting caught.
- The narrator kills the old man, dismembers his body and hides it beneath floor panels.
