  • And they began to tackle the lesson which looks boring at first.
  • Good Morning ClassWe will learn the Phases of Meiosis
  • I hope this topic is intersting...
  • Jared, stand up
  • The initial meiotic division, known as meiosis I, reduces the number of chromosomes (reduction division). Homologous chromosomes are divided during this procedure. The division is typically accompanied by cytokinesis.
  • Before we start our discussion, do you have any prior knowledge about Meiosis I?
  • Exactly.
  • The second meiotic division's actions resemble those of a mitotic division. The amount of chromosomes that each daughter cell receives makes the difference, though.
  • Missy, stand up
  • How about Meiosis II?
  • Very Good.
  • Students are slowly showing interest in the subject, which initially seems dull but ends up being entertaining.
  • Meiosis 1 separates the pair of homologous chromosomes and reduces the diploid cell to haploid. It is divided into several stages that include; prophase I - each chromosome aligns with its homolog, pairs with that homolog, and crossing over at chiasmata, metaphase I - at the equatorial plate, the bivalents align, and microtubules from the opposing poles connect to the homologous chromosomal pairs, anaphase - each bivalent's two chromosomes split and migrate to the cell's opposing ends, and telophase - a full haploid set of duplicated chromosomes can be found in each half of the cell. .
  • Students are slowly showing interest in the subject, which initially seems dull but ends up being entertaining.
  • Cells move from meiosis I to meiosis II without copying their DNA. Meiosis II is a shorter and simpler process than meiosis I, and you may find it helpful to think of meiosis II as “mitosis for haploid cells. The cells that enter meiosis II are the ones made in meiosis I. These cells are haploid—have just one chromosome from each homologue pair—but their chromosomes still consist of two sister chromatids. In meiosis II, the sister chromatids separate, making haploid cells with non-duplicated chromosomes.
  • Assignment; 1. Make a comic strip that describes the phases of meiosis.
  • Good thing I listened to your earlier Ms. Payad
  • Now before you proceed in your next class, copy the assignment on board.
