- When hurly-bury's done, When the battle's lost and won.

- Go, pronounce his present death, And with his former title, greet Macbeth
- I'll see it done.
- Act 1, Scene 3
- Hail to thee, Thane of Cawdor! All hail, Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter!
- The first witch, second witch, and third witch meet in an open area and collectively decide to meet Macbeth on the heath. They intend on approaching Macbeth about his prophecy.
- Act 1, Scene 4
- My worthy Cawdor!
- Ross and Lennox inform King Duncan of Macbeth's and Banquo's heroic actions during their battle against Scotland. After realizing the former Thane of Cawdor was a traitor, King Duncan sentences him to death and announces Macbeth as the new Thane of Cawdor.
- Act 1, Scene 5
- Hie thee hither, That I may pour my spirits in thine ear And chastise with the valor of my tongue All that impedes thee from the golden round, Which fate and metaphysical aid doth seem To have thee crown withal.
- The three witches meet Banquo and Macbeth and address Macbeth as the Thane of Glamis, Thane of Cawdor, and Scotland's future king. Macbeth does not believe their words until Ross and Angus approach him later and announce him as the new Thane of Cawdor.
- Act 1, Scene 6
- Fair and noble hostess, We are your guest tonight.
- King Duncan praises Banquo and Macbeth for their heroic actions in the battle and personally announces Macbeth as the new Thane of Cawdor. He is so grateful for both men that he feels he cannot properly repay them for their actions while Macbeth declares his loyalty to the king.
- Lady Macbeth receives Macbeth's letter about his prophecy, and she is worried whether he has the courage to fulfill it. With this doubt, she plans to persuade Macbeth to take the throne for himself.
- Macbeth and Lady Macbeth host a feast in their castle with King Duncan as one of their guests. Throughout the night, they continue to deceive their guests with as little suspicion of their evil intentions as possible.
