  • Over 65,000 years, Indigenous Australians culture continues to live on and remain strong. Their culture includes a number of practices and ceremonies centered on a belief in the Dream time and other mythology.
  • Dreamtime is a word to describe the Aboriginal Creation Mythology. It was first used 1890's and onwards, to tell the younger generation about the events that had occurred, how the universe came to be, how humans were created and how their creator intended for humans to function within the world as they knew it.
  • Indigenous Australians built their homes using branches, barks, grass, stones and mud. They used the branch to hold up the layers of sticks, barks, grass, stones or mud. Their homes weren't protective and it did not have good spacing as one or two people could fit in.
  • Indigenous Australians believed in their world, that nothing is inanimate and everything is alive such as animals, plants and natural forces are all energized by a spirit.
  • Indigenous Australians were very close to their land and species, which they see as their families. The land provides for them and they sustain and manage the land through their culture and ceremony.
  • Women were the gatherers and men were the hunters. Women had to gather vegetables, roots, herbs, fruits, nuts, eggs, honey and small land animals. Men had to hunt large land animals and birds.
