  • Hello everyone! My name is Kiamcelyn. When I registered for this class, I assumed Anthropology's focus was solely on Human evolution.Specifically, the human species that lived in the past. I assumed lessons would generally focus on neanderthals and other stages of human evolution.

  • After The first lesson, I was surprised to find anthropology is not nearly the simple field I imagined. But a complex subject that covers many ideas and subfields in the study of humans. Evolution is only an aspect of what anthropology studies and explores. I learned that my assumption described a subfield (or branch) called Paleoanthropology.

  • I realize now that it's necessary to be curious about the study of humans to help expand our perspectives, since we are a part of the human species. The topics anthropology covers are not only fascinating but allow us to gain deeper understanding of the people around us and of ourselves. These topics are so broad that studies continue to grow and evolve, since, in many ways, we are constantly changing and developing in each society.
