French and Indian war

- We (British) were marching from Fort Cumberland and were going to oust the French. General Braddock was leading us. However, the French were already going out to attack us. The French and Indians sneaked up on us and took us by surprise. We were all shocked and started acting like cowards. Now we are fighting each other and our General has been hurt.
- A lot of the native americans sided with the French but many of them stayed neutral and shifted their allegiances based on the flow of the war. However, towards the end the Iroquois Confederacy who was originally neutral sided with the British and their rival Algonquins sided with the French.

- For the British to win they had focused thier military on conquering Canada. They were able to achieve this when they retook Louisbourg in 1758 and the surrender of Quebec in 1759 along with taking Montreal in 1760. These victories and the signing of the peace treaty in 1763 allowed the British to extend control of North America. The Peace Treaty of Paris allowed Great Britain to gain French Canada and Spanish Florida.
